It is highly recommended (although not mandatory) that Qualified First Aiders, and Emergency First Aiders undertake  an Annual Refresher Course – keeping their current skills up-to-date, and inline with any recent medical advances.


The qualification period for both Qualified First Aiders, and Emergency First Aiders, is currently 3 years.

An appointed First Aider is put forward by an employer to take charge when someone takes ill, or is injured in the workplace.  This may be duties such as calling an Ambulance, ensuring the First Aid Box is well stocked with the necessary equipment, and maintaining records of all treatment provided.

Appointed persons are not legally required to take part in approved training, however,  it is highly recommended, so they are able to fulfill their responsibilities as that designated person.
